About
Andrew

I learned about the Feldenkrais Method while recovering from a repetitive strain injury. I was writing a dissertation in Sociology at Stanford. And in the process I developed severe hand pain when typing on the computer. Over the course of a year, I explored many different approaches to the situation, and while all were helpful, the work of Moshe Feldenkrais resonated the most.

After receiving regular private lessons and attending classes, I decided to join a Feldenkrais Practitioner Training Program. This four-year process helped me realize more was contributing to my hand issue than I thought. I had plenty of wear and tear from being a four-sport high school athlete. And I was in a moderate car accident when I was 12. The accumulation of these events, among others, was related to a series of compensations in how I was supporting and using myself. Many of which I was not aware of. Unwinding these compensations and learning how to use myself differently was what I needed.

I have lived and practiced Feldenkrais in the San Francisco Bay Area, Portland, Oregon and Santa Fe, New Mexico. I grew up in the countryside in Iowa and have a deep interest in gardening and regenerative agriculture. I now live in Boulder, Colorado and very much enjoy what I do: helping others with something I personally care about.

“Andrew's approach to Feldenkrais is intuitive and easy to follow. The atmosphere he creates during his sessions is both instructive and meditative. His way of teaching imparts the mindset of curiosity and connectivity. That mindset carries over into my daily work as a musician, where I'm constantly refining movements to be easier and more effortless. I've really integrated the value of attention over effort.”

My Values

Influences + Teachers

“I found Andrew at a time of immense difficulty in my life. I had suffered a debilitating injury that was impacting my ability to perform even the most basic tasks. Andrew provided a multifaceted, holistic approach that made true transformation possible.

He introduced me to gentle movement practices that allowed me to improve my capacity slowly and steadily without reinjury. He supplied concrete strategies to make everyday tasks easier to do within my physical limitations. And along the way he listened empathically and held space for all of the difficult feelings that came along with the long road to recovery.

Working with Andrew has changed my life more than I can describe. I have rejoined the world with new capacity, new trust in my body, and a renewed connection to what matters most in life. Do yourself the favor of spending some time with this remarkable man. You will be amazed by what unfolds.”
